FAQ & Help – QuickConvert

This FAQ page answers common questions about using QuickConvert: how the PNG ↔ JPG, WebP, HEIC and image ↔ PDF converters work, how we handle your files, what to do if something goes wrong, and which formats are best for your case.

1. About QuickConvert

What is QuickConvert and what can I do with it?

QuickConvert is a collection of small, focused online tools that help you convert images between popular formats directly in your browser. Right now, you can:

  • convert PNG ↔ JPG on the main page;
  • convert WebP ↔ JPG/PNG for modern web images;
  • convert HEIC → JPG/PNG for photos from iPhones and iPads;
  • convert images ↔ PDF to create or extract pages from PDF documents.

Each tool is designed to be fast, simple and privacy-friendly, without unnecessary menus or registration.

How is QuickConvert different from other “online converters”?

Many online converters upload your images to a remote server for processing and sometimes show aggressive ads or require an account. QuickConvert focuses on running conversions directly in your browser using JavaScript and Canvas where possible. This reduces the need to send files to a server and helps keep the experience cleaner and more predictable. The interface is intentionally minimal: pick a file, choose the output format, convert, download.

2. Files, privacy and security

Are my images uploaded or stored on a server?

In this demo implementation, the converters are designed to process images locally in your browser using client-side technologies. That means your files are opened and converted on your device rather than being permanently stored on a remote server. Hosting infrastructure may still see basic technical information (for example, error logs), but the goal of QuickConvert is to avoid keeping your image content.

Is it safe to use QuickConvert for personal photos or documents?

For most everyday use cases – converting holiday photos, screenshots or simple documents – our browser-first approach is a privacy-friendly option compared to traditional upload-based converters. However, as with any online tool, you should be cautious with extremely sensitive content (legal documents, confidential work materials and so on) and follow your company or organization policies.

Do you use my images to train AI models or for advertising?

No. The converters are not designed to use your image content for training or profiling. We may use anonymized analytics when you accept cookies, but that is focused on understanding aggregate usage (which tools are popular, where errors happen), not on the actual photos or documents you convert. For more details, see the Privacy & Cookie Policy.

3. Supported formats and tools

Which image formats does QuickConvert support?

The current set of tools focuses on the most common formats used on the web and on mobile devices:

  • PNG – lossless, supports transparency, great for graphics and UI;
  • JPG / JPEG – lossy, small files, best for everyday photos;
  • WebP – modern format with very good compression for the web;
  • HEIC / HEIF – default photo format for many Apple devices;
  • PDF – used for documents and multi-page layouts.

The PNG ↔ JPG tool is on the main page, WebP and HEIC have dedicated converters, and the image ↔ PDF tool lets you create a PDF from images or export PDF pages as images.

When should I choose JPG, PNG, WebP or PDF?

A short rule of thumb:

  • Use JPG when you want smaller files and are working with regular photos, screenshots or images for messaging and social media.
  • Use PNG when you need transparency or very sharp graphics, such as logos, UI elements and diagrams.
  • Use WebP when optimizing images for a modern website and you control the environment (most up-to-date browsers support WebP).
  • Use PDF when you need a document – something that should be printed, signed or shared as a multi-page file.

4. Using the converters

How do I convert PNG to JPG or JPG to PNG?

Go to the PNG ↔ JPG converter, drop your image into the upload area or click to choose it from disk. Leave the source format on “Detect automatically” or set it manually if you prefer. Choose the output format (JPG or PNG), adjust the quality slider if needed, click Convert and then download the result. For most photos, a JPG quality of 80–90 gives a good balance between size and quality.

How do I convert WebP images to JPG/PNG?

Open the WebP ↔ JPG/PNG converter, drop your WebP file and choose whether you want a JPG, PNG or WebP output. This is useful when a website or app cannot handle WebP yet and only accepts classic formats.

How do I convert HEIC photos from my iPhone?

If your iPhone or iPad saves photos as .heic, use the HEIC → JPG/PNG converter. Drag and drop the HEIC file, keep the source format as HEIC/HEIF, pick JPG or PNG as the target and click Convert. The converted file can then be opened by almost any app or uploaded to services that do not support HEIC.

How do I create a PDF from images or export PDF pages as images?

Go to the image ↔ PDF tool. To create a PDF, add one or more JPG/PNG files in the order you want them to appear, choose PDF as the output format and click convert. To export pages from an existing PDF, upload the PDF, choose JPG or PNG as the output and run the conversion. Each page will be rendered as a separate image.

5. Limitations and troubleshooting

Are there any file size or usage limits?

The demo version uses a per-file size limit that is shown near the upload area (for example, “Max size: 20 MB”). This is mainly to ensure good performance inside the browser and to avoid exhausting device memory on mobile. There are no strict daily limits – you can run as many conversions as you need, as long as each file is within the recommended size.

The conversion does not start or the file never appears – what can I do?

If the converter seems stuck, try the following steps:

  • make sure the file size is below the indicated limit;
  • try a different browser (recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari work best);
  • disable aggressive ad-blockers or script-blockers for this page;
  • reload the page and try again with a smaller test image.

If the problem only happens for one specific file, it may be corrupted or use an unusual encoding that the browser cannot fully decode.

The output quality looks worse than my original image – why?

When converting to JPG or WebP, the converter uses lossy compression. If the quality slider is set too low, artifacts and blurring can become visible. Try increasing the quality to 90–95 or, when you need perfect fidelity, convert to PNG instead. Also keep in mind that converting a file multiple times between formats will gradually degrade the image – it is best to keep an original copy in a lossless format and only convert once for sharing.

Does QuickConvert support batch or multi-file conversion?

The current tools are designed around converting a single file (or a small set of images in the case of the PDF creator) at a time. This keeps the interface simple and avoids overloading the browser. In the future, batch conversion or drag-and-drop folders may be added as separate tools, depending on demand and performance considerations.

6. Devices and support

Does QuickConvert work on mobile phones and tablets?

Yes. The interface is built with responsive layouts and should work on modern mobile browsers on iOS and Android. On older devices very large files may be slow to process or may run out of memory – in that case try converting a resized image first or switching to a desktop browser.

How can I report a bug or suggest a new feature?

If you notice a problem with a specific converter, an error message or an image that does not render correctly, please take a screenshot and contact the maintainer using the email address in the Privacy & Cookie Policy. Include your browser version, operating system and, if possible, a sample file that reproduces the issue. Feedback about new formats and features is also welcome.
