How to convert HEIC to JPG or PNG online

HEIC is the default photo format used by recent iPhones and iPads. It offers smaller file sizes and better quality than classic JPG, but many apps, websites and even some desktop tools still do not fully support HEIC files. QuickConvert is a free HEIC to JPG/PNG converter that runs directly in your browser and helps you turn HEIC photos into more compatible image formats.

Step-by-step: convert HEIC to JPG or PNG with QuickConvert

  1. Click the “browse from disk” area or simply drag & drop your HEIC file into the upload box.
  2. Make sure the source format is set to “HEIC / HEIF”.
  3. In the “Convert to” dropdown choose whether you want JPG / JPEG or PNG.
  4. Optionally, adjust the JPG quality slider or toggle compression to reduce the output file size.
  5. Press “Convert” and wait a moment while the HEIC converter processes your photo.
  6. Download the result using the “Download result” link when it appears.

The whole conversion happens in your browser using modern JavaScript and Canvas APIs. In this demo version, your HEIC photos are not permanently stored on a server – they are processed locally on your device.

When should I use JPG and when should I use PNG?

Both JPG and PNG are widely supported formats, but they are optimized for slightly different scenarios:

  • JPG / JPEG – best for everyday photos, screenshots, messages and sharing on social media. JPG uses lossy compression and usually produces much smaller files, which is ideal when you care more about size than about pixel-perfect quality.
  • PNG – better when you need transparency (logos, icons, UI elements) or want to preserve fine details and text. PNG files are typically larger, but they use lossless compression and keep every pixel.

If you are converting iPhone HEIC photos to send them by email, upload to a website or import into an older app, JPG is usually the best choice. If you need clean graphics with transparency, choose PNG instead.
